7) Bharat Nirman Programme
Drinking water supply is one of the six components of Bharat Nirman program which is implemented by the Central Government. This programme is to be implemented within four years i.e. from 2005-06 to 2008-09 stage by stage. There are four parts under the drinking water suppy components are as given below.
- Coverage of uncovered habitations of C.A.P.99 by 2008-2009.
- Tackling water quality problems in affected habitations by 2008-2009.
- Coverage of all rural schools with drinking water facility.
- Coverage by providing drinking water facilities in slipped back habitations.
Out of 373 habitations as per CAP-99, 160 habitation are tacked in 2005-06 to 2007-08. 213 habitations are balanced as on 01.04.08. From which 124 habitation schemes are on progress and balance habitations schemes are under preparation.
As per habitations survey 2003, 350 habitations are in P.C. category and remaining 115 habitation are tackled in 2005-06 to 2007-08. 234 habitation are balanced as on 01.04.08 from which 133 habitation schemes are on progress and balance habitations schemes are under perperation.
In Latur dist. sources in 79 villages are affected by chemical content i.e. Floride, Iron, Nitrate, Hardness, Chlorides etc. In those villages water supply schemes are implemented under Jalswaraj project & Bharat Nirman programme.
